Touring Seattle

On Monday I took Lucia and Priscille to see some sites in Seattle. We went on the DUCKS tour which was SO fun! We walked around a little. Went to the library and checked out every floor. The building is so structurally interesting! They have one floor that is entirely red! We had our picnic across the street around a fountain.
Then we went for a ride on the Great Wheel, the new ferris wheel down town that just opened in June. The we went to the Ol Curiosity Shop.

Rapido!

Lucia, Priscille and Shelby are playing Rapido! They are having so much fun. They gave Shelby a few cards to play with. I'm just sitting in the chair laughing at them! :D

A Beautiful Sunny Day

Today it was 81 degrees and beautifully sunny! We took full advantage of it and went to Green Lake in Seattle.
First, we rented a paddle boat for an hour and paddled all over for a while. Then we got lazy, kicked out feet up and laid back. It was so relaxing! Just listening to the sound of the water hitting the boat. A few ducks came over and Shelby tossed a grape at them. To out surprise, the duck dove down in the water and caught it. That kept us entertained for a while. :)
After the paddles boat we headed to a beautiful grassy field and sped out a blanket. We had lunch and the Jason and Lucia shot some hoops. Inflated in the sun and read Hunger Games while Shelby threw a frisbee. Again....so relaxing!
Lastly, before I fell asleep in the grass, we went for a short walk around the lake before heading home.
Tonight we watched an episode of Firefly, had dinner, played Candy Land together, and we read some library books with Shelby.
Now Jason and I are watching a movie, Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World by Ken Ham.
A very good day it was!

Summer Fun

We decided to host 2 foreign exchange students for the month of July. They are 16 year old girls.
The first one arrived last night. Her name's Lucia and she's from Spain.
So far she's been such a joy to have. She's polite, neat, and funny. She's also very good with Shelby.
I love talking with her about Spain! We are learning a lot about her country. She likes Coldplay and called her home town a "Villiage".
Today she slept in to recover from the long (15hr) flight. Then I made her a good breakfast and we set out to the library. Afterwards we went to the Mukilteo beach. It was a warm (78 degree), sunny day.
I just finished making Moroccan Vegetarian Stew an it's simmering away. I made low fat, low carb Black Bean Brownies for dessert.
We are watching Firefly right now, her choice. She likes it. Then we are heading to the mall. She's excited to go shopping.
